Wild Winter Lights Presented by NOPEC Returns to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo This Holiday Season

By NOPEC on October 19, 2020

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is transforming into a winter wonderland this holiday season with Wild Winter Lights presented by NOPEC. Experience this year’s new lighting display, with more than one million individual lights and unique twists on holiday traditions beginning November 17.

This year’s festive event features hundreds of lighting displays across holiday-themed areas including Candyland, Enchanted Forest, Conservation Trail and Santa’s Workshop. Guests can experience Wild Winter Lights on foot or in their personal vehicle.

“Wild Winter Lights promises a memorable holiday experience for everyone this year thanks to the support from our community partner NOPEC,” said Kelly Manderfield, Cleveland Metroparks Chief Marketing Officer. “This year, we’ve put a greater emphasis on improving access to our special events so guests can experience our festive lighting display on foot or in their vehicle.”

Highlights of this year’s event include dazzling walk-through displays, carousel rides, costume characters, model train displays, ice carvers, live music from festive choirs including the Singing Angels, and a dynamic light show featuring an enchanting 50-foot tree. Guests can also take photos with Santa Claus at his workshop during the walk-through event, as well as during select daytime visits throughout the holiday season.

“We are thrilled to be the presenting sponsor again this year of this unique, affordable entertainment option that we expect will be an extremely popular outdoor experience for NEO families this holiday season,” said Chuck Keiper, NOPEC’s Executive Director. “Our support and involvement underscore NOPEC’s mission of giving back to our communities.”

To allow for social distancing, attendance to this year’s Wild Winter Lights will be limited and guests are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance. Additionally, the Zoo has implemented several safety measures throughout the event, including handwashing stations and frequent sanitation of Zoo grounds. Guests are required to wear facial coverings during their visit, unless under six years of age, or because of an existing condition. Facial coverings are not required for the drive-through event but are recommended when interacting with Zoo employees.

Wild Winter Lights runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Sundays beginning November 19. The drive-through event will also be offered Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning November 17. Wild Winter Lights concludes Wednesday, Jan. 3. For all walk-through dates visit FutureForWildlife.org/lights and for all drive-through dates visit FutureForWildlife.org/lightsdrivethrough.

Wild Winter Lights tickets are limited, and advance online reservations are strongly encouraged. The discounted cost for Zoo members is $18 and $20 for non-members, or a four-pack for $54 for members and $60 for non-members. Children under two are admitted for free. Tickets for the drive-through experience is $54 per car for Zoo members and $60 per car for non-members. Visit FutureForWildlife.org/lights to reserve your spot today.
