NOPEC is pleased to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive 20-month process to select a supply chain partner for natural gas and electricity supply for its member communities. This nationwide multi-phase review process culminated in a new 9-year supply agreement with NextEra Energy Services, a trusted name already serving NOPEC communities.
The rigorous process included:

Hiring a national energy consultant to advise NOPEC throughout the RFP process.

Identifying and qualifying potential suppliers with strong financial credentials and experience in serving large scale aggregations.

Conducting a national RFP for “qualified suppliers” to serve NOPEC’s electric and gas aggregations after the current contract expires in May 2027.

Hosting virtual meetings with interested bidders and conducting formal interviews with finalists.
The NOPEC Board of Directors approved the new contract in September, ensuring continuity and stability for NOPEC’s popular programs, including the Energized Community Grant program, which will see inflation-based increases in 2027 and 2032.
