Ohio Utilities That Have Suspended Disconnection Amid COVID-19

By NOPEC on  March 16, 2020

Amid growing concerns of COVID-19, The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) is urging all PUCO-certified utility companies to review their policies and identify where "it may be prudent to suspend, for the duration of the emergency, any policies that would impose a service restoration hardship or create an unnecessary risk of human contact."

The following companies are suspending disconnection due to nonpayment.

Electric Utilities

  • American Electric Power
  • Cleveland Public Power
  • Dayton Power and Light
  • Duke Energy
  • Ohio Edison
  • The Illuminating Company
  • Toledo Edison
  • The Energy Cooperative

Natural Gas Utilities

  • Columbia Gas of Ohio
  • Dominion Energy
  • Duke Energy
  • Vectren
  • The Energy Cooperative

The list will be updated as more information becomes available.
